Richard Jones

Richard Winston Jones, 69, of Arlington, TN passed away January 30, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Elton Jones and Frances Mitchel Jones Byrne. He is survived by Wally, his wife of 44 years, son Anthony Jones (Dawn) of Bartlett, TN, sisters, Jerryanne Jones Starnes (Doug) of Arlington, TN, Elaine Jones Ellis (Andrews) of Eads, TN and his beloved granddaughter, Ashley.

Born in Memphis, Richard was an All-Star four-year letterman pitcher for Frayser High School and American Legion teams. He was scouted by professional baseball. HE graduated from the U.S. Navy School of Music, Fort Benning, Georgia, and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He retired from Sears after 38 years. He was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church where he performed with the orchestra (tuba), sang in a gospel quartet, and sang with the senior choir. He was an avid hunter, enjoying deer hunting with his best friends and son. Richard loved his Lord and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to Ashley. He was a blessing to everyone who knew him and faithfully believed Isaiah 40:31 and Psalm 23.

The family will receive friends at nine o’clock until the time of service at ten o’clock on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Pollard Chapel of Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, Tennessee. Interment will follow at eleven-thirty at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
