BRUNSON, RAY – age 97 of Memphis, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Mr. Brunson was born to Edd Lee and Ida Brunson in Sumner, Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. After moving to Memphis, Mr. Brunson spent most of his career at Memphis Light, Gas and Water in customer service. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Mary Smith Brunson; sons and daughters-in law, Ronnie and Kathy Brunson of Lenoir City and Dennis and Jan Brunson of Millington; grandson, Matthew Brunson and wife, Krystal, of Ashland City; and great grandchildren, Evan Brunson of Millington and Kai Brunson of Ashland City. Mr. Brunson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters, including his twin sister, May King, and his grandson, Joseph Brunson. For many years, Mr. Brunson loved to garden and to share vegetables with his neighbors and friends. After retirement, he and Mary traveled extensively, bowled on a league, and were long-standing members of Bartlett Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. Mr. Brunson loved his family and friends and never missed a chance to let them know how much he cared and appreciated them. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at HarborChase of Germantown for the care they provided to Mr. Brunson for many months. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 10, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude.
