On December 29, 2021, Heaven gained an incredible soul. Nancy Jo Brown of Bartlett, TN made her grand entrance into her new home while surrounded by her husband, Roger Brown, daughter Amber Williams and son in law Jason Williams after a long illness. On January 7, 1954, Nancy was born to Willie Harold and Mary Jo Bost in Milan, TN. The family moved to Memphis, TN where she then met her soon to be Bartlett High School sweetheart, Roger Brown. These two had a love story that movies are made of. They were one another’s light and recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. They set a wonderful example to their daughter Amber.
Roger and Nancy would go on to marry and have a son named William Harold Brown who sadly passed shortly after birth. A few years later, Nancy would give birth to her best friend, Amber. These two had an inseparable bond who many considered to mirror Nancy’s favorite tv show, The Gilmore Girls. Nancy and Amber loved to ride around town listening to their favorite 90’s songs on full blast with a treat in their hand. When you saw one, you would always see the other. Nancy always had her doors open for Amber’s friends whom she welcomed into her home at any time and would immediately fix some homemade goodies because she never wanted them to leave with an empty stomach. Once you were brought into the family, she considered you her own.
Nancy fiercely loved her family and the love she felt only intensified when her three grandchildren came along. Brody, Colby, and Hartley were everything to her. She wanted to be part of every little thing that had to do with them and loved them so much. She was the best Nana and words truly can not express how much she meant to them and how much they meant to her.
Nancy had a quick wit with an impeccable memory and could make friends with anyone. She lit up a room with her grace and compassion and truly cared about everyone. Nancy had a strong love for animals, including her dogs over the years, Hans, Dixie Belle and especially Sadie and Simon. Her dogs made her so happy, and we know they were waiting on her when she walked thru the gates. Nancy would always donate to the animal shelters and the cause was very near and dear to her heart.
Nancy was preceded in death by her son, William, father Willie Harold Bost, mother Mary Jo Bost, sister, Patricia Ann Berry, and brother Will Jr.
Nancy is survived by her true love, Roger, her best friend and daughter Amber, her wonderful son in law Jason, the light of her life grandchildren, Brody, Colby and Hartley, her sister Sally Smith (Troy), brother Jim Bost, nieces Shannon Webb (Jerry), Maggie Despain (Jason), and nephew Justin McPherson (Bobby) and three great nieces, Madison, Kenzie, and Maci Webb.
We would like to thank the wonderful doctors and ICU nursing staff at Methodist North hospital for taking such great care of her. We would also like to thank the staff at Community Transition Nurse during these past couple of years.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Bartlett Animal Shelter or the animal humane society of your choice in her memory, that is what she would have wanted.
A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday, January 7, 2022, at the Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133 with a gathering of friends from 4:00PM-6:00PM with the service following immediately after beginning at 6:00PM. Nancy loved to laugh and did not want us to cry. She wanted us to celebrate that she is free from any pain. What better way to celebrate her, than on her birthday.
The family requests that all guests dress casual.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MemphisFuneralGermantownParkway.com for the Brown family.
