On November 12, 1950, Mr. Norman & Mrs Fredie Nelson were blessed with a beautiful daughter Linda Carol Nelson.
Linda would be raised and Baptised in the Catholic Church. She would attend catholic schools including the now closed Bishop Byrne. Linda graduated from Northside High School with honors. She would eventually join Baptist Healthcare where she worked for some 20 years.
On December 31, 1979, she and her loving & devoted husband, Dusty R. Walker, Sr., were blessed to be married. A marriage so blessed it lasted over 44 years years. The marriage brought together Linda's daughter Carol Renee Miller (preceded in death by Mr. Clifton Miller), another daughter Arnita Andrel (Darrin) Washington; and two sons Dusty (Shautel) Walker Jr. and Philip (Lamonica Armond) Walker.
Linda was the perfect mother to the children and of course she enjoyed her grandchildren as she was blessed with their arrival. After choosing to further her education, she enrolled at State Technical Institute (now Southwest Community College) where she earned her medical transcriptionist certification in 1996. She graduated from State Tech in 2002 with an associates degree in General Technology.
Linda enjoyed many activities and hobbies. She was as comfortable in a formal setting as she was in a casual one. Her beautiful smile and dynamic personality made her popular among friends. Linda always carried herself with poise, style and class. She enjoyed boating, swimming, bowling, fresh & saltwater fishing and also taking many rv trips. Her favorite vacation spot was the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Along with her husband and children, Linda leaves to mourn a devoted sister Norma (Kerry Jones) Brown, 2 nephews, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and devoted friends.
A gathering for family & friends for Linda will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM until a celebration of life 2:00 PM all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A repast will immediately follow until 4:00 PM.
