Diane began her journey with her savior as an adolescent. More recently she had been a member of First Assembly of God for over 28 years. She loved her Lord and that was witnessed by all who knew her.
Her greatest achievement was her faith and her belief in God. Her other achievements included being a devoted wife of 61 years, 9 months, and two days. Diane tirelessly devoted herself to God first, second to her husband, and then to her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Diane graduated from Bartlett High School. She later completed cosmetology school, mastering cosmetology in every area, and went on to own her own salon (Salon For You). She became a student of the violin when life slowed down a little in her 50s and also learned sign language for the deaf. Diane was the founding member of Flame Fellowship International, Memphis Chapter, when she attended Raleigh Assembly of God. Diane occasionally sang gospel music and always enjoyed singing with her sisters. Diane had a passion for poetry. She became an anointed poet at around 13 years of age and wrote faith-based poetry that one could say was far beyond her years. Diane also was a lover of a “most excellent adventure” as she enjoyed to travel.
Diane loved birds and was a member of the Audubon society. She enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them outside her big picture window in her home. They gave her joy, which she used to spread to every person she saw with her bright smile, green eyes, and that beautiful red hair. Diane also had a very close relationship with her dog, Gretel, who took very good care of her.
Diane is survived by her husband of almost 61 years, J. Taylor Dabbs, Sr. Their love was immense and had no boundaries.
Diane is survived by three children, Laura Christine Robinson-Kee (Andrew), Emily Marie Crowell (Mike), and J. Taylor Dabbs Jr. (Nicole); nine beautiful and talented grandchildren, Kent Graves, Crystal Evanuick, Lauren Miller, Daniel Robinson, Nicole Matthews, Ethan Dabbs, Caleb Thompson, Wesley Dabbs, Sam Dabbs; 19 great grandchildren.
Diane is survived by and was blessed with two sisters, Cheri Horton (Terry) and Jeannine Tharp (Rodney) She was blessed to have nieces and nephews, a plethora of great nieces and nephews, and was known by many as bonus mom and grandma, as she welcomed all to be a part of her big and growing family. She truly spread her love to all, and after being around Diane one could not help but leave as a better person.
