Jon Anthony Williams is remembered as a man of great character who knew how to love. Family, friends and neighbors were his true joys in life. Jon extended courtesy and Southern hospitality to anyone he met. His love for his wife was boundless and unconditional. His love of family – his children, grandchild, brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, two dogs, and even his granddogs and grandcats – were his primary focus in leading a good life.
Jon knew how to fix anything – whether it be engines, plumbing, grills, carburetors, boat motors, lawnmowers, or even a broken heart. Jon’s do-it-yourself savvy allowed for a 30-year career in auto mechanics and industrial maintenance, where he often mentored coworkers, as well as friends and
family members in need. It was always Jon to the rescue!
Drag racing, building cars and following NASCAR were among Jon’s favorite hobbies and passions. His frequent watching of the Andy Griffith Show allowed him to entertain others with word-by-word quotes, as well as dish out valuable advice for all of life’s turns. If anyone had an offhand joke, Jon would lean in, ready to laugh (then add his own two cents!). He had countless memories and cherished stories from his many fishing trips shared with his brothers and nephews. Jon was go-with-the-flow mixed with a daredevil attitude. Perhaps it was this balance that made him hell around a black jack table and the bowling alley!
Jon will be remembered for all of these things, plus so much more. His big ol’ grin is forever etched in our minds, but it is his even bigger heart that will always stay with us.
