He was born in Cairo, IL, the son of the late John T. Sr. and Norma Jean (Hopgood) Carr. He was an adoring father and grandfather, a poet, an avid fan of Cardinals baseball and Notre Dame football, and an award-winning brewer. His sense of humor brightened the lives he touched.
In addition to his wife Velita, he is survived by his son Joseph (Megan) Carr, his daughters Cheri (Alex Pilkington) Carr, Jeannie (Brian) Hopper, and Danielle Carr; his grandchildren Jeremy Hopper, Violet Hopper, and Penelope Pilkington; his sisters Janie (Mike) Akin, Judy McDonnell, Jann Fox, and Jackie (Kevin) Halsema; and many loving nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens Chapel, 3700 Germantown Pkwy., Tuesday February 2nd from 5-7p.m., with a Rosary recitation immediately following.
