Strong, Gentle Spirit, and Unwavering Faith
Eva Lucille Ross, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and follower of Jesus, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love,resilience, and devotion to her family that will never be forgotten.
Lucille was born on September 19, 1930 to Howard and Ruth Dixon in Shawnette, TN. Lucille lived her life with a compassionate heart and an unwavering spirit. She was a beacon of light to those around her, known for her kindness, generosity, and boundless love for her family and for Jesus. Lucille graduated from Portageville High School in 1951. Following high school, Lucille married Jesse Odell Ward. Together, they had three children; Steve, Rod, and Greg.
In God's perfect timing, He brought a second love into her life. On September 19, 1998, Lucille married Raymond Ross and they lived in Lakeland, TN. Their marriage was a testament to the redemptive power of God’s love and grace. Together they built a beautiful family that includes Lucille’s three sons, five
grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
To most people, she will always be known as Lucille. To her family and those closest to her, she will always be known as Mimi. No matter how you knew her, it was evident to all of us that she was a nurturing, compassionate, and caring woman. Throughout her life, Lucille was a devoted member of her church, serving faithfully and extending kindness and compassion to all who crossed her path. She was a living example of Christ's love, touching the lives of many with her gentle spirit and unwavering faith.
Lucille poured her heart and soul into her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived out for them Biblical values, compassion, integrity, and perseverance that has left a lifelong impression that will endure both in their lives and their children’s lives.
Lucille is survived by her two sons, Steve and Greg; five grandchildren, Heather and her husband Richard, Melissa and her husband Bart, Gavin, Melinda and her husband Macon, and Ashley; and eight great-grandchildren, Reagan, Lyla, Brennan, Truett, Hayes, Liam, Audrey Anna, and Adalyra.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth; one sibling, Garvis; her son, Rod; and her husband, Raymond.
A gathering of family and friends for Eva will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 and burial will follow in Memorial Gardens.
