Donna Palmer Collins, Bartlett, TN , 57, of Bartlett passed away on Monday November 2, 2015 from complications following a double lung transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN with her husband of 37 years at her side. Donna was a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church and an active participant in many transplant support groups. Donna loved Church Hand bells, knitting and teaching and learning about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Donna was a high school graduate of Indianola Academy in Indianola, MS and a college graduate of The University of Memphis. Donna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and an open and loving friend to almost everyone she met, whether in person or on social media, especially transplant support groups. She was a strong advocate for organ donation and encouraged everyone she knew to become a donor. Her family (immediate and extended) was her life for which so would do anything to help. She will be truly missed. Donna is survived by her husband Ray, their daughter Jennifer (Collins) Freeman, their daughter Kristina (Collins) Bennett, their son, Matthew Collins and their 4 grandchildren, Luke, Megan and Nate Freeman and Sam Bennett all of Bartlett. Donna leaves her Mom Henrietta Palmer McKay, 4 siblings; Debbie Palmer Arrington (Inverness, MS), Derrel Palmer (Jackson, MS), Duane Palmer (Florida) and David Palmer (Southaven MS) and many in laws that. There will be a gathering of family and friends from five o’ clock until eight o ‘clock, on the evening of Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Bartlett United Methodist Church, 5676 Stage Rd., Bartlett, TN. Funeral Services will be held at two o'clock the afternoon of Friday, November 6, 2015, also at Bartlett UMC with interment to follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133.
