David Yates Hines, age 91, of Hickory Withe, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022. David was born April 24, 1930 in Shaw, Mississippi to Wilma Moore Hines and David Sherard Hines. The family moved to Memphis when he was nine and he graduated from Tech High School. David spent his work career at E I DuPont and retired after 37 years with the company. He served in the Army during the Korean War at Camp Carson in Colorado. He was a member of Raleigh United Methodist Church. David enjoyed his lake home at Pickwick, tinkering with cars and boats, or any repair work. He was affectionately known as a “Jack of all Trades” and “The Troubleshooter”.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary, daughter Gale Hines McGhee (Eric) and son David Doss Hines (Tina), 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Hines Burns.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 AM, Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee.
