Chris was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Batangas, Republic of the Philippines, and spent most of his working life as an admin specialist supporting Filipino construction workers in places like Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Okinawa to name a few. He became an American citizen in 1995.
In his retirement, he enjoyed watching his favorite boxer, Manny Pacquiao, and shows like “Walker, Texas Ranger” along with several Filipino serials and various shows on EWTN. Chris had an excellent sense of humor and loved to dance. He was proud to be a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a long-time parishioner at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bartlett, TN, Chris is survived by an elder sister, Juliana Maranan of Zambales, Philippines, and his loving wife of 68 years, Luming Vergara, of Lakeland, TN. Chris and Luming had seven children; Letty Reedy (Denny) of Cordova, TN, Wilfredo Vergara (Beng) of Lakeland, TN, Efren Vergara (Audra) of Naples, Italy, Thelma Cordova (Jun) of Sydney, Australia, Myrna Skinner (Bob) of Lakeland, TN, Noel Vergara of Cordova, TN, Jocelyn Jamin (Larry) of Laguna, Philippines, Chris had 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
