Charles Edward Sowell passed away on October 18, 2022, at the age of 74. During high school, he met his high school sweetheart, Karen, who later became his wife. Always his partner in all things, Charles and Karen worked together as an award-winning driving team for JB Hunt, where they spent millions of miles traveling across the United States and Canada. Charles was also in the National Guard in his younger years and enjoyed being a part of the American Legion in his retirement. No one would doubt his love of family, servant-heart, and calm leadership in any situation. Charles leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Karen Young Sowell, and their three children – a daughter, Christy Sowell Erdly of Watsontown, PA; a daughter, Shawn Sowell of Atoka, TN, and a son, Michael (Analice) Sowell of Germantown, TN. He also leaves behind six grandsons – Richard (Terrika) Sowell, James Burns, Cody Olden, Kyle Erdly, Quentin Erdly, and Patrick Sowell. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, beginning at 10 am at Holly Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Brighton, and the funeral will follow at 11:00 am. A private burial will be at Memphis Memory Gardens in Bartlett, Tennessee.
