Charles H. Dennis, Jr. was born on April 11, 1934 and passed from this life on June 15, 2022 at 88 years old. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Jo Anne and children Robert M. Dennis (Dawn), Susan D. Crawford (Rick), John C. Dennis (Lori), Phillip A. Dennis (Cheryl) and Cole H. Dennis (Amy), 13 Grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and his sister Louise Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Dennis, Sr and Eathel Dennis and Sisters Mary Jean Dennis and Katherine Ann Snipes.
He was a man who loved God, his family and his work. He was a faithful and active member of the Raleigh Church of Christ later becoming the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ. He was instrumental in the construction of the various buildings to the benefit of the church.
Charles always considered his wife and five children as his most valued gift. He and Jo Anne were high school sweethearts at Treadwell High School. They discovered each other when she bought his Spanish book for an upcoming class. They were married on June 10, 1954 and just celebrated 68 years of marriage. They built a life filled with children, travels, horses and boats. Many weekends were spent at Pickwick Lake on their boat or at Horse Show watching a child, grandchild or trainer show one of their horses. He considered his greatest accomplishment to be that all of his children agreed to work with him and continue the legacy of Dennis Electric, Inc.
He had many accolades and accomplishments in the Electrical Contracting industry.
• Long-time board member of the West TN Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors including Board Chair.
• Founding Member and a 20”+ year Board Member of the ABC Worker’s Compensation Trust Fund.
• Served a term on the National Board of ABC
• Honored and Inducted by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) as a Fellow. This was an honor very few within the organization attained.
• Served on the Labor Relations and Education committees of both organizations.
Services for Charles will be on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ, 7900 E. Old Brownsville Road, Arlington, TN 38002. Visitation will begin at 11:00am with the service following at 1:00pm Burial will be at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133
