Bobby retired from the automotive industry after many years in sales and management at dealerships in Memphis, Millington and Arlington, Tennessee. In retirement, he made many new friends selling fruits and vegetables at his stand on Houston Levee Road. He loved hard work, his friends and his family.
Bobby was pre-deceased by his father, Dalton E. Ward, his stepfather who raised him, Jerry W. Jenkins, and a nephew, Sam Ward. He is survived by his mother, Katharine Jenkins of Lakeland, his sister, Susan Jenkins (Sherry) of Lakeland; his brothers Mike Ward (Glenna) of Memphis, Phil Ward (Denise) of Bartlett, and Jay Jenkins (Sonya) of Lakeland. He leaves nephews Justin Ward of Rossville, Tennessee, Alex Ward of Memphis, Justin Jenkins of Oakland, Tennessee, Jerry Jenkins III “Jake” and Joey Jenkins, both of Arlington and a niece, Grace Ward, of Dallas, Texas. He also leaves several aunts and uncles, many cousins and five great-nieces. His dog, Sugar “Shoog", was his constant companion at work and home.
The family will greet friends beginning at 1:30 Sunday, October 20 at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee with a celebration of life to begin at 2 p.m. and a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Bartlett Animal Shelter.
