Andrea Marie (Lockett) Franklin was born March 6, 1979 to Steve Lockett and Eunice Marie Harper Lockett in Memphis, Tennessee. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church and most recently served as a member of Hope Church Memphis.
Andrea graduated from Overton High School in 1997. Afterwards, she attended UT Martin, University of Memphis, and Victory University towards completion of her degree in business. In 2003, she moved to Hinesville, GA where she met and married Edwin Bernard Franklin, Jr. Their union began October 15, 2004. Edwin and Andrea later moved to North Carolina and raised two beautiful children. She also worked as a Human Resources professional for the State of North Carolina. Andrea’s health battle with triple-negative breast cancer began in August 2017. She fought for remission of the cancer and her family later moved back to Memphis in September 2018. The strength that she demonstrated throughout the illness was indicative of her character. Despite her best efforts, the malady returned with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer. Andrea stayed true to her faith and beliefs until her early departure on February 15, 2020.
Andrea was family-oriented and she always put family first. She honored and esteemed her husband in high regard and it was exemplified in their unwavering bond. As a mother, she was always very attentive and loving toward her children. Andrea was authentic and created a unique energy with everyone that she encountered; especially her siblings. She demonstrated a quiet, gentle spirit that became a powerful and articulate voice of change whenever needed. She stood up for what she believed in and was very proud of her African American heritage. Andrea was wise beyond her years. Her generosity and servitude to others was exceptional.
