Rebecca Raymond, 28, a Deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, along with her fiancé, Brian White, 30, an Army UH-60 Maintenance Test Pilot were both killed when the aircraft they were in, crashed on July 29, 2017 near Big Bear, CA.
Rebecca was born in a U.S. Army hospital in Germany. She was the daughter of Michael and Christy Raymond. She graduated from Barstow High School and went on to Victor Valley College for her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and in 2011 she graduated with honors from CSU Dominguez Hills with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. She was a 2012 inductee to the Alpha Phi Sigma, National Criminal Justice Honor Society. She received her Police Officers Standards and Training in 2014 from the Allen Hancock Law Enforcement Academy.
More than anything, Rebecca wanted to help people and make a positive influence on the world. She was proud to be a Deputy and often bragged about she was part of the best Department and had the best leadership and co-workers in the nation.
She was passionate about volleyball and had played on the varsity teams for Barstow Middle School, Barstow High School, VVC and CSUDH. As a teen, between school seasons, she played for the White Lightening Volleyball Club in Victorville. Prior to becoming a deputy, she also served as Head Coach for Riverview Middle School. She loved helping these young players learn the sport. That year, she coached the team to an undefeated season.
Both Brian and Rebecca were active individuals and never changed that when together. They loved travel, hiking, working out, running, target shooting and boating.
Rebecca and Brian had known each other for two years and had flown to Big Bear on July 28th where Brian surprised “Becca” by proposing on the flight line after landing. She happily said, “Yes” to Brian’s proposal. Her parents were in Big Bear for the joyous occasion and had dinner with them that evening. Brian had made dinner reservations at their favorite restaurant with flowers waiting.
A joint service will be held at Barstow Performing Arts Center at 4:00 PM on August 9, 2017
Rebecca is survived by her proud parents, Mike & Christy; her siblings, Jennifer, Jesica, Michael, David and Victoria; Nephews and Nieces who she adored and many Aunts and Uncles. Rebecca was a wonderful person who’s contagious smile would light up any room and who’s caring personality touched everyone’s heart. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.
