It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Roy Fleming, 91 on November 23, 2024. A beloved resident of the Topland area in Fort Assiniboine, Robert passed away surrounded by love after a long and fulfilling life.
Born on April 14, 1933 in Edmonton, Robert was the eldest child of Marguerite and Roy Fleming of Topland. Robert dedicated his life to farming, a calling he pursued with unwavering passion and hard work. He took great pride in cultivating the land, nurturing crops, caring for livestock, and forestry—leaving a legacy of dedication and stewardship. From early mornings and late nights in the fields to the harvests he shared with family and friends, Robert’s connection to the land was evident in everything he did.
Robert is predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife of 66 years, Theresa (Richter), son Kenneth, daughter Barb (Mitch), grandchildren Shauna (Scott), Krista (Brent), Garry (Nikki), Mac (Alyssa), great granddaughters Brynlee, Halle, Savannah and Charlotte, as well as his brothers David (Joan) and Gordon (Edna), brother-in-law Paul, along with many nieces and nephews.
Robert will be remembered for his love of farming, baseball, curling, square dancing, and enjoyment of coffee and socializing while sitting head at the dining table.
Funeral services will be held December 9, 1:00 pm at Topland Hall followed by a time of fellowship to celebrate Robert’s life and legacy. Refreshments and a light soup/sandwich luncheon will be served.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Topland Cemetery Society and Topland Community Association.
