Micheal was born in Barrhead on August 16, 1962 and it was there that he spent most of his life. Mike worked “the rigs” for many years and in the construction field. It was while he worked the rigs that he suffered injuries that would affect him throughout his adult life. Not one to complain (much), diabetes and these injuries took a toll on him. Four years ago, Mike lost part of a leg due to infection, and in the last months of his life, could be seen travelling thoughout Barrhead on his scooter. After having limited mobility, Micheal found a new sense of freedom and independence with his scooter.
Micheal was a generous soul and would give you “the shirt off his back” if he felt the need. His generosity was well known as was his love of a good time.
Micheal was predeceased by his loving parents, John Skwarchuk and Alice and Carman Baragar. Micheal found their deaths hard but knew that he was well loved and fortunate to have had them in his life. He will be dearly missed by his son, Atlas and his sisters, Karen ( Lorne), Sharon and Mary (Dale), nieces and nephews, special friends Doreen and Nick and many other friends and relatives.
His years were cut short but if you asked him if he enjoyed life, he would give you his wonderful smile and say “ yup” . Rest well Micheal, you were loved and will be missed and remembered.
The family would like to thank Dr. De Waal and the staff at the Barrhead Hospital for the incredible care they gave to Micheal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
