Only just found out about Jerritt's passing. So very sorry for his family and friends loss. I remember Jerritt as a toddler visiting Aunt Pearl's on Salter Street with his mom and dad and sister Redeana. How they would run around the coffee table and then throughout the house laughing and playing  and always so well behaved. Jerritt was always smart and such a good lad. He carried his smarts through school and into adulthood.  Such a shock to hear for so many of us. Condolences to all from cousin Peter Davis, Aunt Pearl Davis, Aunt Shirley Stenebaugh and Aunt Ethel Park.

Barb I am so very sorry to hear of your loss today, my deepest sympathies to you and your boys. It is easy to see he was gifted in many ways by the comments written here. A natural althete who excelled at any sport that he played. Most people are really good at one sport but Jerritt was great at most. Hockey, ball, and golf ... He was competitive at all of these yet a sportsman just the same. A dedicated professional who will be sadly missed by co-workers and fellow firefighters alike. He was a good friend and a quasi-roommate ... I often think of Monday Night Raw, Chinese Take-Out, and LGD in a 32 sided can ... And I smile to myself for awhile. Although I have been absent for sometime I now realize that all of the qualities that I saw in Jerritt earlier in life would have only helped to shape him into what he had become ... A loving husband and father, a true friend, and a really good man. My heartfelt condolences to you Barb,  your family, and your friends.

I played soccer for a year or two with Jerritt in Winnipeg when we were young - which seems like such a relative term as he was far too young to leave behind what I can tell from reading the messages on this site was a happy, loving, and vibrant family & community of friends and co-workers.  

We re-connected very casually a year or two ago on Facebook, and I always felt that he faced his health issues with a great deal of honesty and dignity.  The kind of thing you always think you should tell someone, but feel too awkward for some reason to bring yourself to do so.

Knowing him now only through social media, it was clear that he was a proud and a loving husband and father, and a valued member of the firefighting force in Barrhead.  

In what can only be a time of grieving and sense of loss, I would like to extend my condolences to all of Jerritt's family and friends.  I was deeply saddened by the news of his passingtoo young...too soonso very sad.

I last saw Jerritt in a restaurant with his family. He was so proud of them. It pains me deeply to think of their profound loss. My sincerest sympathies are with you, Barb, and your boys.

It is possible to grieve our loss and at the same time have hope for the one who has passed on ahead of us. My prayer is that we all find peace and that Jerritt's transition to spirit and his return home are gentle.

Barb, Hayden, Ryder and family.  We wish to express our deepest sympathy for your loss.  Jerritt was a very good man.  I did not know him closely until he started playing hockey with the Old Vets.  I think that when he joined, he helped us remember that we were there to play and have fun, in the way children play and have fun.  He seemed to know how important it really is to enjoy the people you're with, to laugh, to tell stories and invent silly ideas.  I really looked forward to the games when he played because of the mood he brought to our dressing room.  

That's not to say he wasn't serious about winning and playing well.  He was clever and diplomatic in the way he organized our lines and set us up for success.  And he brought a certain dignity to the team.  By his example we all played with a touch more class and respect for other players and the referees.  He really was a good influence on our team.

There are so many of his stories and antics that come to mind as I think of him.  I recall him coming to our house in full fire-fighting equipment, to respond to our call regarding carbon monoxide.  He stepped in the door, saw Colleen, looked into the house, looked at his boots, and then up at Colleen He knew he should take his boots off, but that meant removing his gear.  He had such a pleading look in his face!  Then Colleen gave him the Ok to go check the situation, and keep his boots on.  His relief was hilarious!

I don't know if he ever handed out any of his infamous Jerritt- Hallmark cards that they should have written, but I still laugh at his suggestions, and wish I could share with him the new ones that I've thought of.  I loved his sense of humour.

We won't forget that after one hockey social, he was ready to head home, (having stayed out really late the night before), but you weren't ready yet.  You were; That's what you think Mr. Four O-Clock in the Morning.  And he humbly conceded that you were right.   He had great respect and admiration for you.  It's experiences like these that make us believe that Jerritt must have been a wonderful husband.  You two were an awesome pair.  

Hayden and Ryder had a really great dad too.  He was a man who managed to coach a bunch of old hockey guys without a formal responsibility for doing so.   I can only imagine the wonderful life lessons he taught his sons in his role as a dad.  Colleen and I often thought how fortunate we might be if he were able to coach our grandsons someday.  

It seems like certain people are among us for way too short a time, but somehow, they manage to have a profound and lasting impact.  To Colleen and I, Jerritt was a very good man.  He was kind, caring, respectful, funny, honest, sincere, and simply fun to be around.  He will be missed.

No longer in pain or suffering. That is what we have to take comfort in now.

Broken hearts are left behind to mend with only time & many tears will be shed, only to be wiped away as we remember our happy memories and those funny moments, or comments, that only Jerritt could come up with.  Or remembering hearing that laugh or seeing that smile. 

Thank you Jerritt for all the wonderful memories I will have because I was lucky enough to have your friendship for all these years, near or far.

Barb, I am so deeply sorry to hear of you and your sons' loss. George and I are so deeply sorry...He was one of the nicest young men I had the pleasure to meet and know. We had so much fun when you guys played with us on the Spruceview Suds softball team! (even if you were only spares - we were loading the team with the two of you.)
