Mrs. Amanda Jane (Brashear) Hensley Mills age 68 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Monday, December 12, 1016 at her home. She was the daughter of Porter Gray Brashear and Pearlie Mae (Johnson) Brashear born to them on February 18, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. On June 13, 1964 she united in marriage with James G. Hensley, Sr. and to this union two sons were born. Later in life the married Jerry Mills who precedes her in death. Mrs. Mills had been an elementary school teacher in Perry & Knox County for twenty six years. She loved her students, especially the Girdler Elementary classes and was an avid Knox Central Panther’s football fan. She was a member of the Mt Olivet Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Mills, her parents, Porter and Pearlie Brashear and one brother, Charles Green Brashear.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her two sons, James G. Hensley, Jr. and fiancé Sabrina and Benny Harold Hensley and wife Shannon all of Barbourville, two grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Hensley and James Paul Hensley, four brothers, Alan Brashear and wife Vickie of Somerset, KY, Robert Steven Brashear and wife Kim of Covington, KY, Joseph Brashear and wife Renee’ of Jackson, KY and Bruce Brashear and wife Jamie of Louisville, KY, four sisters, Sherry Brashear of Harlan, KY, Ellen Crowley and husband Tom of San Diego, California, Lola Ratliff and husband Greg of Prestonsburg, KY and Anna Duncan and husband David of Lexington, KY along with several nieces and nephews and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Mills will be conducted on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Liford officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Joe Hensley, David Dunn, Jimmy Walters, Gordon Hinkle, Matthew Warren, Coty Walters, Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.
