We were so very sorry to have missed the memorial service for Bill.  We didn't learn of his passing until our daughter, a CSUB professor, forwarded Dr. Zelezny's beautiful email tribute to a "CSUB Champion for Diversity" to the campus community.   Our daughter had the honor of knowing Dr. Perry professionally and saw him in action on campus.  We, on the other hand, knew Bill socially and personally through his membership on the STEPS board.  One such time, we had the distinct pleasure of traveling with him and Margo on the bus from Bakersfield to San Pedro for the 3-day cruise to Ensenada.  We found we shared a lot in common, including good ole rock 'n roll, singing along to the tunes, and even doing a little bus dancing (in our seats).  We treasure all the times we shared with Bill and Margo.  Bill was an intelligent gentleman, one who we easily learned from and respected.  He quietly left his imprint on so many lives, and we will be forever grateful that our paths crossed and he was a part of ours.  Margo, you and your family are in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts.


Bill will forever be remembered for his outstanding character and kindness.

I offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Perry.  Currently serving as Vice President for Student Affairs at California State University, Bakersfield, I hear countless stories from many former students telling me how much he helped them as they were pursuing degrees.  Occasionally, I had the pleasure of seeing him on campus at a sporting event when initially starting my tenure at CSUB, and he always offered encouraging words.  Being new to Bakersfield, it meant a lot to me that he would spend quality time counseling the new guy in town. I will always appreciate his kindness.



My deepest sympathy on the loss of Bill.  I sat on many boards with Bill and he was just the best.  Forever in my memory as a fair and highly intelligent friend.  RIP
