My parents have always been a huge influence on me.  I never hesitated to ask for advice and they always gave me guidance.  Not that I always followed their advice, but I always took them and their opinions into consideration, especially since I raised my children on my own.  Mom and Dad were always there for me.   

Their love and care of me throughout my life is one of the biggest reasons that I am so grateful and glad that I was so blessed to be able to move them in with me in April, 2019.  It was a big adjustment for all three of us, but we had some really good times.  When my kids would come over, we would have a big dinner or BBQ and we played table games, cards, dominoes or a rousing game of 10,000 that called for dice (that was our favorite).

I will always be truly grateful that Daddy's last full year was spent  in our home in the mountains.  He was happy here.  We would sit on the patio and have coffee on nice mornings.  We would watch the birds come to the bird feeders and watch their antics flinging birdseed all over the ground and playing in the water in the bird bath.  The deer would quietly walk into the back yard and also try to eat the birdseed.  Even during the winter when we were stuck in the house because of the snow, we watched the deer, almost daily, through the big window in the front of the house and also stand at the kitchen window in the back of the house and watch them feed and interact with the other animals, birds, squirrels, rabbits and an occasional gopher.  

I will treasure these memories forever.  I love you and miss you.

        A  POEM FOR MY GRANDPA

As a small child, Grandpa and I did a lot together. 
We would go up to his property in his truck. 
But, it was him playing music, that was the best thing ever. 
I even remember on the side of the house in the ivy,  getting stuck. 

As a small child I remember with family, you always had time to listen when everyone else was busy. 
The wisdom in the words you spoke always but everyone else's mind at ease. 

I remember grandpa's  firm and gentle touch. 
And tears in his eyes, the last time I saw him, saying how proud he was of me. 
Me and you, were the best of buddies, it was that day you realized. 
I was grown up, with big hands, grandpa size. 

Then one quiet day, the Angel's came to take far far away. 
Yet in the stillness of that following night, I heard you say.
Gordie, I will miss you, you have meant , so very much to me. 
But Jesus has called me, to be at his side. 
In heaven, is where I am, until he calls for you to be with me.

i'll always thank grandpa for my love for cars, and my love for star wars. i remember watching the original trilogy on VHS with him when i was 8 years old. i loved the black F150 that he had at the time. he was never afraid to get his hands dirty, and do all sorts work on the house and the vehicles himself, and i strive to be like him. i love him, and miss him more than words can explain, 

William David Muse is my Grandpa. Those that knew him, called him Bill. He played music all over Bakersfield, CA and surrounding area when I was growing up. He made a name for himself in the Country music scene, and was part of that Bakersfield sound. I remember when Grandpa was recording with Buck Funderburk. They did one album, maybe more could have happened. Just one problem he was a committed husband and father. He was home every night and when home before kids bedtime, my Mom says he would sing and play guitar. Grandpa played guitar originally. As time went on, he learned bass. Some years went by and he taught himself steel guitar. Everything he did in music was gold to me. He bought me my first amp, and my first acoustic guitar. My first thoughts of playing music came from my Grandpa, and Ace Frehley of the Kiss Band, I was 3 or 4 years old.

My Grandpa was an amazing man. Yes he had faults, we all do. He was loved and liked by all around him. Mainly, I think, because he was honest, sincere, and just real. He was genuine. Another thing my Grandpa was, he was funny. Not a little, but a lot. His laugh was that deep kinda high pitched laugh he had from his belly, would make you laugh. Then Grandma would chuckle a bit and say “awe Bill stop that. Your gonna make them late, or upset them, or whatever was going on at the time.”

I remember when all us Grand-kids did our names in the fresh cement in the backyard. I remember going to his music room, and was just in awe. “Teach me grandpa,” I’d say. No matter what was going on if I heard him back there I’d go in, or listen outside the door. I was named after him, and my son David was named after both of us.

My grandpa was a good man, a fine man. An amazing example of a man, friend, husband, and father. I just hope some or him rubbed off on me.

I’m gonna miss him, in ways I don’t even know yet. I love you grandpa and miss you already.

When I was a very young girl, my Daddy, Mommy, Sister, Brother, and I would go to Huntington Lake every summer to camp out for two weeks. Huntington Lake is nestled in the mountains of Sequoia National Forrest. From Bakersfield, California, where we lived, it was about a three to four hour drive. We would travel North on Interstate 5 to Fresno, California, and would follow the signs to Sequoia National Forrest. Once we got to the National Park, Daddy would take another road up to Huntington Lake. This lake is huge and so beautiful. I loved spending two weeks there on our family vacations.

Every year, we seemed to get a better and better campsite. The campsite I remember the best was the one right by the lake. This particular campsite was also close to that babbling brook we heard in the distance when we stepped out of the camper. We all three screamed at once saying, “Yeah, thank you Daddy for picking this spot!” Billy, Janet and I talked about everything we were going to do such as go on hikes, swim in the lake, ride in the boat while Daddy let us drive the boat one at a time, taking turns. 

Janet, Billy and I helped Daddy and Mommy set up camp. Billy and my Daddy  would set up the tents, while Janet and I helped Mom arrange a cooking area. It was fantastic, I thought because it looked just like a kitchen, only outside. The picnic table was where we would eat our meals, the campfire was our stove, the tents were our bedrooms, and the camper was our changing quarters. Food just seemed to taste better cooked outside on that campfire. It was so much fun, and my poor mother hated it. 

Mommy said it was not much of a vacation to her because she still had to cook, wash dishes, and clean even outside. Daddy  would laugh and say, “Clean what? There is nothing out here but dirt Sylvia.” 

The vacations my family and I spent at Huntington Lake were the best. I learned to drive handling a boat on that lake.

Dear Muse family, I want to honour Bill and comfort all of you I have listened to this a thousand times since I lost my Mother and we lost Darla- I would imagine Bill playing this and singing to me. It is his kind of music. It is really about good memories of your loved one and recovery while allowing you to be heart broken. Uncle Bill was always a sweetheart, loving, gentle and quiet.  A 'regular' guy who valued the simple things - love, life, family, God, and obviously music.  So sad not to be there in person.  Much love to Aunt Sylvia and the whole family.

I ment Bill 25 years ago when he came to visit his brother Jim and I in Council Idaho. We visited Bill and Sylvia many times in Bakersfield over the years. I always enjoyed Bill,  and found him to be a kind, gentle soul and thoughtful of his family and others.  I enjoyed his sense of humor and his life stories. 
He will be missed on this earth.


Uncle Bill was a kind and gentle man.  He always reminded me of his father, Fred, my grandpa.  God doesn’t give us many like Uncle Bill and Grandpa. I’m so fortunate to have known them.  Love you Uncle🧡

I remember Grandpa taking us up to his property in Twin Oaks. From the 3 wheeler that he built, the tree houses and the Mulligan stew, there were never better times. More recently, he was still helping me with ideas & remodeling my bathroom. He was going to teach me to to weld & we were both excited & looking forward to that.  I have so many amazing memories, especially recently. He was such a great man who never skimmed on precious family time. He'll forever be in my heart. I miss you so much Grandpa.
