Velma Rae Hurt

In loving memory of Velma Rae Hurt who passed away at age 92 on November 2, 2022, in Bakersfield, California surrounded in love by family. She was born as Velma Rae Goss, in Fannin, Texas on May 30, 1930.

Velma was preceded in death by her father Joseph Goss, Jr.; mother Edna Orum; brothers Chuck Goss and Albert Madison; sisters, Josephine Brisko, Mary Newhouse, Pat Ogden, Fay Madison, and Lois Royal; three children - sons Johnny Johnson and Joseph Ray Johnson; and daughter Dereatha Rainbolt.

She is survived by three siblings - brother Bobby Madison; sisters Joan Madison and Judy Madison; seven children - sons, David Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Guy Patch, and Mark Patch; daughters, Ruth Parks, Diana Floyd, and Jennifer Patch; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and close friends. She loved her Pentecostal faith and treasured her relationship with her Brothers and Sisters at Faith Lighthouse Church.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lighthouse with Rev. Wilma Robinson officiating. 1230 Monterey St, Bakersfield, CA 93305. Reception will follow services.
