peacefully at home after a courageous fight with cancer. Sharon was born July 13, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas to Mary T. Burnell and Paul R. Conkle, both from the Wichita, Kansas area.
Sharon lived a full life surrounded by family and friends, and enjoyed crocheting, fishing, reading and travel. She was fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel internationally, visiting the British Isles, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia with dear friends. Additionally, she enjoyed touring the majestic sites of her own country and of Mexico with family.
Sharon also enjoyed a wonderful 40-plus year career as a registered nurse and took great pride in the vocation she loved and dedicated herself to, retiring from Bakersfield Memorial Hospital in 2000.
Sharon is survived by her sister, La Vencia Meyer of Arkansas; three children, daughter and husband Lori and John Perkins of New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter and husband Deborah Panter and Daniel Beaver of Moraga, CA, son James Panter of Bakersfield, CA; three grandchildren, John and wife Colleen Perkins, Campbell Beaver and Eleanor Beaver, and two great grandchildren, Catherine and Jack Perkins.
She will be forever loved and forever remembered.
A visitation for Sharon will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary.
