Richard was born on December 10, 1955 in Lancaster, California to Wilma and Lawrence Payne. He was raised in Rosamond, California where he graduated from Rosamond High School. Richard made a life for himself and his family in Bakersfield, California. He was a hard working man that dedicated most of his life to his work at Gilliam and Sons, Inc. As a particular man, Richard was fanatical about washing his cars, and presenting himself in an immaculate manner. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture or bringing new life to antiques. Richard is survived by the countless family and friends who he loved unconditionally, his mother, Wilma “Mimi” Downs; his Aunt Pat; his children Colette, Lonnie, Kelli, and Katie; and his grandchildren Beau, Isley, Paige, Emma, and Paxton; and countless other friends and family members. A memorial service will be held at Mish Funeral Home 120 Miner Avenue in Bakersfield on July 7th at 11am.
