Uncle Richard, a man raised with six sisters
Outnumbered by women with a lot of twisters
He set the example of kindness and generosity
His sisters looked up to him with pride and curiosity
For Uncle Richard was not your average man
It was said; if you can’t do it, Uncle Richard can
He was a veteran from the Navy ranks
And he was known to pull a few pranks
He was a sailor, a pilot, a musician and more
He never was one to be a bore
He once lived in Hawaii, searching for treasure
He filled his family with loads of pleasure
He came back to California and drove a truck
He was a hard worker and was never one to rely on dumb luck
He had cool things; like an electric car before they became vogue
He was always one to go a little rogue
He had a Model A Ford and an old Chevy Corvette
Classic cars we will never forget
He drove these cars with pride and pleasure
He took us for rides for fun measure
He sailed miniature sailboats in competition with grace
The master of the River Lakes and the River Walk Lake race
He managed a plastics plant with his older sister
She protected him from the ones that didn’t respect this kind-hearted mister
He reciprocated by helping her and by being her friend
She respected him and looked up to him until the very end
He sailed his catamaran on Lake Ming
He played his ukulele, and wow he could even sing
He played his tuba with great joy
Keeping a tune with his church band for God, ahoy
In retirement, he loved his dogs and his wife
He was always willing to be full of life
God Bless you Uncle Richard, you will forever be in our hearts
And we will always remember your song about buggers and farts
You left us too soon, without even a song
We wonder out loud, “How could you be gone?”
We cry for our loss, with no one to call
Uncle Richard; such a great brother, husband, uncle and friend to us all
For it was your wit and humor that made you so special and unique
And your love for us all we will miss like a fine antique
One last rhyme with Uncle Richard in mind
I love you Uncle Richard and thank you for being so kind!
God Bless You and Rest in Peace,
Your Nephew, Mike Renzi
