Wayyy back in the day,  my younger sister and I were new students at Desert high school, transferring from Mojave high school.. I didn’t know you well, but the few times I was around you, you were kind and I noticed how well liked you were by many fellow students and the teachers. I know it’s been many years since your passing, but I wanted to leave a message of my memory of you. Hope your dancing in heaven with the angels 👼🏼 🙏🏼♥️

Although, we have never met.  I just wanted to say that if you were here , I know you would be so proud of your son.  I was proud of him as I watched him in his #10 jersey playing quarterback for the Green Bay PACKERS.  Proud of him to have made it from Bakersfield,  California to UTAH State and now in WISCONSIN.  
I know you are cheering for him from above.     💚🏈💛 If I ever get to go to a game (on my bucket list),  I will cheer extra loud just for you Sgt. Love!

There is not a Sunday that goes by that I don't think about you.  Everytime I see your family I am reminded about our friendship and that we worked together here at FBC.  It is almost a year since you left us.  For the Christian, to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.  One day, I and many otherw will see you once again.

Its coming close to a year since you have been gone , but in so many ways you are not gone because of what you gave so many they give others. You knew what the big picture was .f ....Forever missed

This is so late in coming but I was thinking of my son and sports and my mind went back to when he played baseball with Orbin's son. Orbin and his wife were always friendly, encouraging and loving toward all of the team members. What a great example he was and my heart aches for the loss that his dear family suffers. May God's grace and mercy sustain you always.

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Orbin.  I was in High School with him and Orbin, always stuck up for me.  He was a good friend, fellow basketball player and even though we lost touch over the years, I was able to talk to him a few years back, and we kind of just talked about the old days.  RIP ....

To the family of Orbin.  Please know we are heart broken.  This great man will be missed.  He was an inspiratin to many and his memory lives on in our hearts.  To his children - your Father was a man of integrity and honor.  We love him very much.

Orbin, Kelvin and I were neighbors, classmates, teammates, and most of all, we were friends. Orbin had a calming, cerebral,mature nature even as kids he was beyond his years . Thank you for touching my life, we should all be so lucky to have known someone like Orbin , and fo that matter, his whole family,in our lives.

      You are the best father any kid could ever ask for! I know a lot of kids say that but I mean it. Well thirteen years to get to know the loving father you were, make memories, share stories, & watch cops every Saturday night, was defiantly not long enough! Even though I know you weren't ready to go I like to look at it like, " god saw this incredible person he had made and couldn't wait to get his hands on you and meet you face to face!" I know you are in a much better place now and having a blast! Well say hi to grandma and grandpa and give them a kiss for me and also Tyler, Bandit, & Precious also! Have fun traveling the heavens in your travel sea trailer! I love and miss you forever and always in our hearts! I love you dad.

Orbin and I were in Mrs. Cahill's art class at Desert High School. I was a freshman and he was a senior. I will always remember how kind he was to me. Thanks Orbin. May your soul rest in peace.

To our family in California it took me this long and probably the rest of my life to try and understand why my cousin is gone I am here living where our Love family began and although his remains is there I feel his soul will be with all of our ancestors in bluebranch Oklahoma he was a great man and a real cousin my heart is broken but all of our Love faith shall endure

My dear brother-in-law, how I wish we were celebrating your 52nd birthday today rather than grieving your death. The past two weeks have been filled with pain and questions that may never be answered. It just doesn't seem real that you are no longer with us here on earth. You are loved by many, and as we all move forward in life, an emptiness will remain in our family and community where you once existed. My heart is shattered and aches for my sister, nieces, and nephew, but I know you are with our heavenly Father, and the pain will lessen over time. May you rest in peace my dear brother!

Sgt Love was a true peacemaker; professionally, personally and spiritually. His calm and peaceful approach to conflict was inspiring. I had many conversations with him; I always felt that he meant what he said and although I may have disagreed with his opinion, I always trusted he was honest and forthright. 
Sgt. Love was genuine, sincere and thoughful; qualities to be admired in his presence and to be missed in his absence. 
We have all lost a very good man and should remember to honor his legacy by striving to emulate his humility, kindness, patience, understanding and loyalty.


Since our first meeting some 25 years ago, we were always humbled by Orbin's friendship. His formidable character, unwavering integrity and unsurpassable fortitude set him far apart from the rest. His moral compass always pointed true north. He recognized greatness in others and was quick to congratulate their achievements. Yet, he also took notice of the weak, the lost souls, and the walking wounded. He made it his own life's mission to give without reservation or question. He believed such efforts proved their own reward. Through it all he never became jaded or cynical and never lost faith in humanity. He truly believed all people were inherently "good" at heart, with no "bad" guys, only bad decisions and circumstances. When we reach the heart of life, we will find ourselves no higher than the felon and no lower than the prophet. For we are all children of one God and faith, all equal in his eyes. We are all worthy of love, patience and understanding. It is noted that he who can put his finger upon that which divides good from evil is he who can touch the very hem of the garment of God. Orbin held this hem in his hands on a daily basis. He continuously placed himself and his own needs last. This was clearly evident in his personal demeanor and behavior, nothing short of remarkable on any scale. He was a true "King" amongst men, standing "head and shoulders" above the masses. Big "O" always gave generously of himself, and his legacy of love, faith and philanthropy will live on forever more. Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need. I only wish you would have "taken" just a little bit more for yourself Orbin. I wish you never felt any suffering. You deserved only happiness. Sadness is but a frail wall between two magnificent gardens. Perhaps when we are sorrowful we should look again into our heart, and we shall see that in truth we are weeping for that which has actually been our delight. The reality of another person is not in what he reveals to you, but in what he cannot reveal to you. Therefore, if you would understand him, listen not to what he says, but rather to what he does NOT say. Silence always speaks louder than words. You cannot judge any man beyond your knowledge of him, and how small is your knowledge? I will remember you, Orbin, always, as I last saw you. Dressed neatly in your suited attire, sitting across from me, happily connecting and recounting our commonalities while eating a vending snack treat, laughing, dreaming, and living. Please know your friendship and kindness never once went unnoticed. You will be treasured forever and cherished throughout eternity. May your children continue in your admirable footsteps and carry your legacy throughout the remainder of their lives. May your laughter echo across our memories, and your shadow never fade from our sunset. Be well our friend and rest in peace.

Orbin understood nirvana existed in leading the young sheep in his flock safely into greener and better pastures, in tucking his children safely into bed each night and finally in writing the last line of his own story. He'll be a story in our head, but that's okay, because we're all stories in the end. Just make It a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best.

It is a blessing to know Orbin!  I had the honor of attending CSUB with Orbin and I can honestly say he exhibited the same spirit back then.  He had a way of bringing out the best in others and a smile that would light up any room. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family.  He will truly be missed.

It was always a pleasure working with  Orbin. He truly loved and cared about the children in our school system here in Bakersfield. Just recently Orbin, representing Bakersfield Police Department and I, representing the District Attorneys' Office spoke at a school rally and marched around the campus with the children to kick off their "Just Say No to Drugs" campaign. We will miss you Officer Love. You are NOW ETERNALLY out of the reach of any Demons! Hallelujah and victory for you Orbin. May GOD bless and keep the family. I was privileged enough to meet Orbin Love and be welcomed into his home several times.  I will forever be thankful that I had the opportunity to witness the love and devotion he had for his entire family; and the genuine kindness and compassion he showed myself and the rest of the world that were fortunate enough to find ourselves in his company.

Orbin was the sweetest person I have ever know. He was humble, selfless and full of love.  Being around Orbin made me want to be a better person. He had a peacefulness about him that could touch anyone. I have been completely blessed to have known him and to have learned from him. I consider myself blessed to have a friend and coworker like Orbin and I could always count on his big smile and kind words to brighten my day.  I have known Orbin for two decades and I have always admired Orbin as the epitome of a family and Christian man.  While I was happy to see him promote out of our office, I knew I was going to miss those frequent conversations about our children as well as his always encouraging words and demeanor.  He literally shined from within when he talked about his wife, Anna, and their children, Kami, Emily, Jordan, and Alexis, and he was so proud of each of them.  He was always caring and considerate, such a gentleman, and someone I could confide in and trust.  Orbin touched many lives and he certainly touched my life.  May God comfort the family with memories of good times and the knowledge he loved them so.

Bakersfield has lost a great law enforcement officer.  Dedicated, honest, fair, and possessing a true moral compass.

I feel privileged and honored to have met and crossed paths with Orbin.  A truly inspirational individual.  The world has lost a true Saint.

I'm here, Orbin. It was this time last year that I came home to look after you ... And God saw YOU through that. Now a year later, I have come back home to look after you again ... And this time ... Sgt. Love was an awesome man, his genuine love and care for his family, friends and community was shown on a daily basis.  I pray for peace and comfort for his family.  My Mother, Faye White and I were blessed to be able to work with him for many years.

Though rivals on the  football fields of the DIL,  we became friends in the weight rooms of Bakersfield in much younger days. Orbin's smile and graciousness were always the perfect reflection of who he was as a man. Regardless of how long we had gone without seeing each other, every happenstance meeting in the community was as if we had never missed a day. Humble, kind, friendly, and caring are all characteristics that I will forever remember when I think of Orbin.

I worked with Orbin for many years and never saw the man get angry or grin. I will only remember him with his smile. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. I had the privilege of taking care of Sgt. Love at Bakersfield Family Med Center for several years before I moved on to a new job. He was the sweetest man, had a quiet grace that made me feel better, when it was my job to make him feel better.  My thoughts go to his family at this sad time.

I first met Orbin and his family while my daughter, Cree, was a gymnist. He was such a quiet, humble spirited man. He loved his children and adored his wife. Orbin Love has been a friend of mine for many years. He has been an active leader at our church, teaching Sunday School, serving on committees, and recently being our youth pastor. Orbin was well respected by all who knew him. Many of us who had teenagers or young adults with problems went to Orbin for advice. He was always willing to offer his help and solid counsel. Our people will miss him and what he has done for our church and our youth. Some of the work that he has done will be seen in changed lives for years to come. He always had a smile and kind word for everyone he met. Orbin Love was truly a man of God.

I will always remember Orbin as my Advisor from when I was a BPD Explorer, he was the niceset sweetest man I had ever met. I will pray for your family that God brings you confort in such a hard time.

My very first contact with Orbin was about twenty years ago when I went on my first ride a long at BPD. He was very kind and showed me many things out in our community. He inspired me to become an officer. Having been an officer at BPD for eighteen years, I had the privledge to work for him on many shifts. He was a kind gentle soul. Many were touched by him including myself. He will be missed dearly. My prayers are with the Love family. God bless.

Orbin was an amazing Man and Father.He was so so devoted to his children. I know that he will be missed by so many. My heart is breaking for Anna and the kids.
