Hugh was born in Porterville, CA on November 12, 1941, to Walter and Grace Riley. Hugh met the love of his life, Sharon D. Coble, in college and they were married on December 28, 1963, recently celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Hugh is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Grace Riley, sister Marilyn Riley Eckman, loving parents-in-law Claude and Jerry Coble, and close brother/sister-in-law James and Patricia (Coble) McCallie. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, their three daughters, Dee Dee, Diane (James) and Dena, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and sister Fern Riley Flores. Hugh was blessed with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Hugh served active duty in the Air Force from 1959-1963 and served in the Air Force Reserves from 1963-1965, serving overseas for most of his active duty. He graduated from Vanguard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972. He had a highly successful 35-year career with Safeway/Vons stores where he was highly respected by all who knew him.
He faithfully served the Lord and leaves a legacy of love and service for his children and grandchildren. He dedicated his life to his children, grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren. We will always cherish the precious memories and will live our lives honoring his legacy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM with graveside services to follow. Visitation and services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield CA 93306.
