Survived by his former spouse Eva, his son Jeffrey and his girlfriend Jamie, his daughter Sarah and her husband Matt, along with his grandson Odin. He is also survived by his mother Gerd and sister Catharina who both live in Sweden.
Greg first came to the United States on an agricultural exchange program. When the program ended he returned to Sweden where he met his future wife Eva. Together, they decided to come to the United States with the plan to stay for maybe 6 months or so, but it turned out to be a lot longer than that. They eventually settled in Bakersfield where their first son Marcus was born. He was followed four years later by their second son Jeffrey, and then a year later by their daughter Sarah. Greg was a very proud dad. He loved watching his boys play hockey while growing up, and cheering Sarah on at swim meets. Tragically, Marcus passed away from an accident in 2005 when he was only 21 years old.
Greg was involved in many different business adventures from custom harvesting of tomatoes in California and Arizona, to test driving new European cars like BMW's and Audis in Lapland, Sweden. He was also involved with building and manufacturing his own EZ-Pick tomato harvesters, which he was very proud of, and different farming projects in Ukraine and in Ethiopia for the last few years. Another project that was very dear to him was biodiesel plant manufacturing in Sweden.
Greg contacted COVID during his last trip to Ethiopia and unfortunately passed away on March 15. We are deeply saddened by his unexpected death, but we can all be inspired by his life...Greg was a dreamer and was not afraid to chase his dreams. While he never believed that COVID would stop him, he pursued his passions till the very end. Few people can say that they lived their life this way, but Greg can rest proudly knowing he did.
A graveside service for Greger will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
