Donald Walter Hicks

Donald Walter Hicks, age 68, passed away peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Don was born October 13, 1955 in McPherson, Kansas to Wayne and Ruth Ann Hicks. His parents taught him the importance of hard work, dedication, and integrity. Don enjoyed simple pleasures; history, reading, taking a drive, playing cribbage, and fishing. He loved camping, sightseeing, golf, and being with family and friends.

Loving son to Ruth Ann, beloved husband of Charlene, devoted father of Jenna (Josh), Colin (Tiffany), and Benjamin, dear brother of Douglas and brother-in-laws Mark and Jerry and sister-in-laws Edie, Kathleen, and Sharon, proud grandfather of Olivia, Alex, Tristan, Jaxson, and Coco Michelle, and loyal uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Those that knew him will miss his long chats and his loving support in their lives. He was greatly loved and will be missed.

A visitation for Donald will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will occur Friday, January 19, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A reception will occur Friday, January 19, 2024 from 1:15 PM to 3:15 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
