Arlene Jones

Arlene was born in Arkansas City, Kansas to Forrest Milton Reed and Rose Annettie Brewer on February 22, 1936, the oldest of Five Children. The family moved to Oildale from Arkansas City when she was 5 in 1941.

Arlene graduated from Fresno State and taught elementary school for many years and received her master’s degree in early childhood development from Cal State Bakersfield in the late 70’s. Arlene attended First Christian Church and became active in the College/Young Adult Christian Endeavor Society. There she met her future Husband, John Jones at Christian Endeavor. Arlene and Johnny married in 1957 and became founding members of Valley Christian Church in southwest Bakersfield. They are the proud parents of two children, a son Greg and a daughter Connie. Through the years, she served Valley Christian in many capacities. Gifted with a beautiful Soprano voice, she often sang solos or duets with John. She loved singing and Music. During the last couple of years see was with her daughter in Missouri.

Arlene was proceeded in death by her Husband John and is survived; son Greg & Nancy Jones of Taylorsville, Utah, their children, Jonathan, Christopher, Robert and Diane; daughter, Connie & Steve Gorham of Wildwood, Missouri, their children Amy and John; sister Janet and Roger Ehrhorn of Ben Lomand; brother Alan Reed of Bakersfield; brother Tom and Elaine Reed of Covina.
