Mr. Meyer and the whole Meyer family are like my second family.  I've been best friends with Stephanie for about 30 years. From the early days of our friendship I can remember her dad's smiling face as he came home from work as we sat in the kitchen eating snacks. Always a smile on that man's face. I don't think I have ever seen him not happy. Going to their house was a happy escape for me at that time in my life. Mr. Meyer was the quintessential father and husband, and honestly human being. May you rest in peace and thank you for loving me like a daughter. 

I am so sorry that I could not join Gary to see Joanne and the family on Tuesday evening...My thoughts and prayers are with all of you...Through the years Gary has always spoken with such love and respect about Bob...always telling me what a great man he was!  Such a blessing for all whose lives he touched...May your memories give you some comfort at this difficult time...Sending love, Jo

I can echo all of what my brother Rick wrote here earlier since so much of our experience with Bob was shared throughout our family.   Bob's marriage to my Godmother Joanne was the first wedding I attended and he was simply one of the best and most enjoyable people I've ever met and had the great fortune to get to spend so much quality time with throughout my formative years.   One of the many memories that came back to me today was Bob coming to my house in Whitestone on Friday, April 12th, 1985 to drive me 41 miles to my Uncle's house in Islip so I could spend the weekend with my cousins and watch Game 3 of the Philadelphia Flyers-New York Rangers playoff series at Madison Square Garden the next night on MSG Network which wouldn't be available in my neighborhood until cable television finally arrived in May of 1986.  It was his 36th birthday and he couldn't have been happier to do that for me because that's the kind of person he was.  He also thought of me when he happened to meet Don Mattingly while at Yankee Stadium one day during the offseason and made a point of asking my Baseball Superhero to sign a piece of paper for me which Donnie Baseball was happy to do.  Thank you so much for that and everything else you did for and meant to my family and me, Bob.  Your warmth, kindness, thoughtfulness and friendship was the very best that life has to offer!

So many wonderful memories of the fun we had together through the years, whether it was at family picnics, coming to your house in N Babylon from Queens in the late 70's and early 80's to be able to watch the Rangers playoff games on cable (before you jumped ship and became an Islander fan!), going to the schoolyard to take batting practice, playing board games together after dinner, your inability to tell a funny story without cracking yourself up, but most of all going to Yankee Stadium together.  I can still picture you sitting in a lawn chair in the parking lot before the game, with a hero in one hand and a beer in the other, taking in the sights, sounds and excitement of the gathering crowd on Opening Day and declaring  to the rest of us...."I'm in heaven!".  Now you truly are in heaven my cousin and we will miss you dearly.

I can remember fishing with Bob and Joannand her pocket fisherman. Trip to the lake in N.J.and stopping at jack in the box in the limousine between wedding and reception.I will miss my brother my prayers are with you Joann and family.
