It's been years now, since you've been gone. But I cried all over again when I saw your sister, Yvonne. It made me realize how much your passing affected me. You made a great impact on my life and because of you, I try to be a better person all around and every day I'm on this earth. Thank you so much for your superior work ethic that I try to live by and follow. Also , I try to be the best at what I do just like you did. Yvette was the first nurse I met when touring SMCA ED.  I can still remember her big smile and red hair.  She said "We'd love to have here with us".  That was the first place I had been that another nurse had welcomed me.  That made an impact.  I was just out of nursing school and was still afraid of the old saying, nurses eat their young. 

I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with and get to know Yvette.  She was always that beacon of light when everything else looked dim.  She was always there to lend a hand before I had the chance to ask.  

Yvette you will truly be missed.  Thank you for all the guidance, care and friendship you so graciously gave.

I was completely shocked to hear of Yvette's passing. It greatly saddened me and reminded me how much we all take our mortality and that of our friends for granted at times. I haven't seen Yvette since 1978 when I left McCallum, but both she & Yvonne made a lasting and endearing impression upon me. She was one of the few who instinctively perceived that I was 'different' and yet chose to show me compassion and acceptance instead of ridiculing or belittling me for it. I honestly can't recall for certain if it was Yvonne or Yvette, but one of them took me aside once to sit with me and thoroughly explain & discuss her interpretation of "Stairway To Heaven" to me - lyric by lyric. I loved music and always will. But more significant was the fact that she took the time to share something so personal. Whether it was Yvette or Yvonne doesn't really matter anymore as my memories of the two are inextricably intertwined. I was actually in Austin when Yvette passed but wasn't able to attend services as I was caring for my Mother as she battles dementia. My deepest condolences to her family and friends, but most especially to Yvonne - you have indeed lost a most remarkable sister, an incredible spirit and a part of your own soul. My sincerest thanks to both of you for the short time we knew each other. 



When we lose someone we love it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness..A longing for one more day..one more word..one more touch..We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good=bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived.  And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.  We will you again some day, in a heavenly place where there is no parting.  A place where there are no words that mean good-bye. Thank you for your friendship, your laughter, your smile and being a nurse. To be a nurse is to walk with God and you were a faithful, a loving, a tender hand and a cheerful word. You brightened my day and I cherished the committees we were on.Thank you for being a part of my life.  





When I discovered the picture of Yvette and notice of her death in the paper this morning, I found myself smiling (because she always evoked a smile) and crying with sadness at the same time.  I have wonderful memories of her as a nurse at Seton ER from the mid-80's.  We were friends and colleagues and she was a joy, hard-working, always learning, empathetic, intent on giving each patient the best of herself.  I also remember times she had to run home on her break to feed a new baby bird (one of them found his way into our home - he sang a lot but Brian never could get that bird to talk!)  I considered it a privilege to work with Yvette.  She blessed my life, her colleagues, and many, many patients.  May she rest in peace.



Yvette, I'm going to miss you so much.  I just couldn't believe the news when I  heard it.  You touched my life with your infectious smile and the way you went about serving everyone!  I didn't have to think much about it to know you were one of God's Angels - one that has been watching after everyone she knew on earth and now watching after them at a different vantage point.  Thank you, God, for Yvette.  Yvette, thank you for letting me hang with you for a small time in your life. For that I am blessed.  You've certainly earned your wings - so fly, sweet Angel of God, and we'll smile and be the wind beneath your wings!  WE LOVE YOU, ALWAYS! 



I first met Yvette and Yvonne in September of 1989 which I purchased the house next door to them.  They were not just wonderful neighbors but good friends and when they moved it left a void in our lives as we were so use to seeing them everyday.  I often called on them both for medical information,  because with 4 children you always have something going on.  Yvette and Yvonne and the children truly became a wonderful part of our life's.  And anytime a baby bird fell out of the trees - you could count on Yvette to take it home and contact the wild life refuge.  She was a beautiful person with a heart of gold and her smile could always cheer you no matter what the situation was.  We have all been blessed for having known her.  Our loss here is truly God's blessing - God truly has a special angel in heaven with him.

A sweet smile and a kind word are sometimes hard to find, however, when I heard of Yvette passing those were the memories that came flooding back to me from so long ago. 

Many people have passed through our lives and I am richer for having known Yvette.

My dear friend, I will miss you terribly.  I don't know who I could possibly call when I have a question, when I need a few words of sisterly or motherly advise.  I have to admit, I'm also a little angry; selfish, I know.  God's sense of humor is not funny, not this time.  He took a wonderful person, an amazing nurse, a most incredible personality, a walking wealth of knowledge in one swoop.  Shame on him.

I am so sorry to hear about Yvette. It brings back a lot of memories of the three little red-haired flute players that I met at the beginning of high school (Yvette, Yvonne, and Shannon, for good measure!). Yvette will always be young and bouncy and happy in my memory, and you will both always be remembered for the closeness of your relationship, and your support of each other, and your matching hairstyles and clothes. You were a great example of that mystical twin thing that the rest of us can't fathom. I hope you can continue to find joy in her memory and feel her presence continuing with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family Yvette but I know you are still watching over them from above. Your smile and positive attitude will be missed throughout Seton as you touhed so many many lives. We were all blessed to have known you. 



During all the times I've had the pleasure to spend w/ Yvette, church/school events, sporting events, trips to Port-A, etc., I don't think I've ever witnessed her having a bad day.  You could always count on her smile, a laugh, and sharing something funny.  My family had been going to Port-A even before we knew the Nichols liked going there too, but I sure will miss having Yvette there in future Summers.  Seeing her get so pumped up about vacationing at the beach and counting down the days just infected our whole families w/ excitement!  She could come back from the pier w/ 10 fish or no fish and you couldn't tell the difference in her mood.  It was all good!  I'll probably think of her every time I cross the ferry now.  I also knew Yvette to have a lot of common sense and straight thinking, and she tried hard to pass that wisdom on to her family and friends.  I bless the times I had w/ Yvette.  I think I am a better person for knowing her.



To the Nichols family I'm sorry for the loss of your loved one.  I had the pleasure of having Yvette as my nurse when I was at Seton's E.R. many years ago.  She was friendly and very professional.  She will be missed by many but not forgotten. 



God bless you and your faily during this difficult time. I only met Yvette a few times, but as a co-woker of Yvonne's @ Brackenridge, I heard so much about her as they were always "two peas in a pod". She was an awesome person & nurse and I know she'll be greatly missed by family, friends and anyone she ever encountered. My prayers go out for your family. Be blessed.

It was such a shock to read of Yvette's passing!  She will be missed! She was always so kind and seeing a familiar face helped make those trips a little more pleasant. I was saddened and shocked to hear of Yvette's passing. I have only fond memories of her from Mac Band. I will always remember her as a  kind, loving, intelligent and talented person. She always had a smile for you.
I appreciated her kindness and professionalism as she attended to my father in Seton ER. We reminisced about band and mutual friends. She really helped pit us at ease during a trying time.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Yvette's sudden passing.  I attended Burnet Junior HIgh and McCallum High with Yvette and Yvonne and they were always very friendly and had smiles on their faces.  I even recall Yvette taking care of me late one night at the Brackenridge ER back in the 80's - she knew me immediately and treated me with great professionalism and friendliness.

My soul & spirit are comforted by the Precious Holy Spirit as I share this personal burden: the sudden loss of "Joyful Yvette".  What an amazing, godly woman she was here on earth & IS, in the Lord's Presence right now.  When I periodically visited 'family' in Austin, it was sooo plain to see her beautiful, genuine close-knit bond with her Mom (my Aunt Betty), her twin sis Yvonne & the 3 spunky children.  Yvette was a Proverbs 31 Woman. The Unconditional Love she chose to give, was as a Song that filled the air.  Her attitude was like perfume & her Christian character was a lovely Fragrance to me, & to the many lives that she came into contact with routinely in her sphere.   For "God IS Love (I John 4:8) & Yvette IS His Masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).  I miss you already, Yvette but our spirits are eternally connected in the Body of Christ  Jesus Our Savior.  We will be together forever one day!  For my Aunt Betty, my 1st Cousin Yvonne & her 3 children, "God's Grace is sufficient for you"...through this valley (II Corinthians 12:9).  I love you!





Yvette was one of those rare individuals that could light up a room (or cure a patient) with her smile.  She was kind, warm, loving and words can not express my sadness for her loss.  You will be truly missed.  You were an angel on Earth, not sure why God needed you so soon!

Our heavenly Father used Yvette's love for birds to be a blessing to Redeemer Lutheran School.  We will greatly miss her passion for the birds, but moreso, her passion for life. We are thankful for the time God shared Yvette with us.  Her heart always filled with goodness and lots of joy to share with everyone.  I will always remember her bright smile, the shine in her eyes and the caring she gave to everyone.  Many many many people will truly miss her.  We have lost a great gift.

When Seton Emergency Services selected Yvette as Nurse of the Year (again) in 2010, we all agreed that "Yvette is who we want to be when we grow up"! But, in truth, we all knew that we would NEVER be as smart, as organized, as thorough, as dedicated, as compassionate, and as understanding of our colleagues' short-comings as Yvette always was - for each and every one of us. Whenever a project needed extra work, whenever a project needed a leader, whenever a colleague needed professional support, Yvette was there to say "I can help with that!". I personally cannot imagine any time in the future (forever) when I won't wish that Yvette was there - as my leader, as my colleague, as my friend. For her family (and her Seton family) the loss of Yvette is beyond measure.



To the Nichols family:

You are all in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. I  wish so much that i could be there for you all. I hope that you will have guidance and comfort through everything. 



Yvette never forgot to smile or pass on a kind word, even in tough situations.  She set an example of good will, honesty and charity which I admired so much.  I will never forget her, she is a part of who I am.

Yvette was one of my mentors at Seton Medical Center. Her skills, her knowledge, her smile and  her loving way made her the perfect teacher and friend. She taught me so very much. She took the time and taught me.  We worked together for 15 years..nights and days. We worshiped together at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
