William “Jeff ” Brown lost his battle with cancer on the 15th of January, 2012 at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with his loving wife, Valerie, and his children at his side. He was born the 15th of December, 1957 in Austin, to Betty and Jack Brown. Jeff attended Texas Tech University and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He joined the family business, Jack Brown Cleaners, in 1978 and served as CEO of several divisions of the company and as an Owner/ Board member. He was funny, loveable, had a big heart, and loved working with his co-workers and customers. Jeff always left a positive impression on all of the people that he met. He was a long time member of the International Conference of Cleaners, serving in several official positions. He worked extremely hard in the Coats for Kids campaign, Jack Brown Friends community volunteer group, and various civic and charity organizations.
Jeff was a devoted Christian and an active member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Church.
He was an avid user of the Hike and Bike Trail and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. Golf was a favorite past time, along with coaching his children’s’ little league baseball and soccer teams.
Jeff was the ultimate family man, who was devoted and committed to his wife, children, grandchildren, parents, and siblings. He is survived by his wife Valerie Brown; his mother and father, Betty and Jack Brown; his son Will Brown Jr.; his son Craig Brown and wife Amy, grandsons Cooper and Carson; his daughter Candice Brown, grandson Anderson; his sons Cole Brown and Dalton Brown; his brother Steve Brown and wife Dede, daughter Stephanie; his sister Gail McPhail, son Tyler and daughter Taylor; his brother Terry Brown and wife Irene, daughters Jordan, Madison and Karrington and son Gunnar; his brother Kevin Brown and wife Kathy, son Gregory and daughter Lauren; his sister Mary Lauren Laney and husband Terry, sons Colby and Casey; his brother Paul Brown and wife Ave, sons Paul and Justin and daughters Christiana and Juliana; and his brother Michael Brown and wife Tamsen, daughter Dillon and sons Conrad and Thatcher.
Rosary service will be held Wednesday, the 18th January, 2012 at half past 7 o’clock in the evening at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas, with a catered visitation to follow from 8 o’clock until 10 o’clock in the evening. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, the 19th of January, 2012 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church located at 4311 Small Drive, Austin, Texas.
