Everyone loved Bill. He was kind, thoughtful, loving, talented, and caring person. He greeted everyone with a generous smile.
He attended Austin High School and the University of Texas and worked as a bank trust officer at City National Bank and Texas Commerce Bank for more than three decades.
For 60 years, Bill served as the choir director of St. Elias Orthodox Church in downtown Austin, building it into one of the finest Orthodox Christian choirs in America. He was a member of the Church's Parish Council for many years, serving at various times as its chair, treasurer, and financial secretary. He also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the North American Council of the Fellowship of St. John the Divine. In recognition of his extraordinary dedication and commitment to the church, Bill was a recipient of the Archdiocese Antonian Medal of Honor.
Bill is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Sam and Sharon Attal and Gene and Marsha Attal; nephew, Christopher John Attal; nieces, Allison Attal Alvarez (C.J.), Anne Attal, Janiece Attal, and Sherise Attal; great-nieces and nephews and countless cousins and family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olga Johns Attal and Sam Arthur Attal, Sr.
The Trisagion service will be recited on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022 at St. Elias Orthodox Church, downtown campus; 408 E. 11th Street, Austin, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are C. J. Alvarez, Christopher Attal, David Jabour, Michael Salome, Vincent Jackson, Arthur S. Jacob and Jared Higginbotham.
