The love of God, family, and friends, and a life of integrity characterize the life of W. Eldon Bebee, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2013. He was greeted in heaven by his precious wife Catherine who preceded him in death on September 3, 2013.
He was born in Spicewood, TX on January 1, 1924, and will be buried there. His family soon moved to Austin, where he graduated from Austin High School and enlisted in the US Navy and served a distinguished career in WWII as a member of the greatest generation. After the war, on an evening at church, he met the dark-eyed beauty Catherine Ann Yeargin, whom he would marry a short 3 months later. To this marriage came 4 children, daughter Dayle Bebee Aulds, daughter Carye Gillen and husband Jim; son Don and wife Debbie; and son Bill and wife Linda; 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren all of whom loved their Mamaw and Pampaw.
Eldon's love for Jesus Christ was lived out through his 57 years of service at Hyde Park Baptist Church through his many contributions as Chairman of Deacons, Sanctuary Building Committee and commitment to the prayer ministry. He also served on both the Baylor University and the Baptist Foundation Board of Trustees.
He had a successful banking career, becoming the president of North Austin State Bank in 1956 at age 32 making him the youngest bank president in Austin. He had many friends, hunting and fishing buddies, business associates and church friends. He was a fine and gentle man and will be sorely missed.
