Thomas Lee Harrison, known affectionally as “TX. T” and “Tommy”, passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2019 surrounded by family. He put up a gallant and courageous fight the past 2 months until Our Heavenly Father decided to call him home into the arms of his other loved ones who preceded him. While we will have a difficult time without him here, we take great comfort knowing he is living peacefully in Heaven. The family would like to thank all the nurses, Doctor S.T., and staff from Hospice Austin, Christopher House for their dedicated care and comfort shown to Tommy and family.
Tommy was born April 30th 1952 to James R. Harrison and Bobbie Joyce Phelps in Austin, TX.
Tommy served 8 years in the Texas Army National Guard in Lockhart and Austin TX, where he received honorable discharge in 1979. Tommy was a kind and gentle soul that loved animals and nature. He spent most of his time making sure the birds were fed and his gardens, trees, and flowers were flourishing. He also loved his family with all of his heart and was always there to give advice when someone needed it. He loved spending time at the lake and scuba diving. There are many stories from friends and family about the times spent at the family lake house on Lake Travis. Tommy was a jack of all trades, and worked hard at everything he did. Early in his career he achieved his plumbing and HVAC license. He drove heavy construction equipment building roads for Austin Bridge and Roads, Ranger Excavation and Pat Murphy. He also worked as a building superintendent for AMLI of Austin. Tommy was most proud of helping build the roads on the Island of St. Kitts. After retirement he worked with his father driving for many Austin area car dealerships.
Tommy is survived by his children: Thomas Harrison Jr., Nikki Leschber and her husband Clint Leschber; his 5 grandchildren, Paige Leschber, Garrett Harrison, Wyatt Leschber, Ethan Harrison and Isabell Harrison; his father James R. Harrison; his siblings, brothers James B. Harrison and Harlan Harrison and his sister Regina Waldo and her husband David Waldo; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs Lucy and Boomer. He is also survived by his first wife Patti Rieger who gave him his children. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Joyce Harrison; his second wife Marcia Greer.
