Sylvia H. Lopez

Sylvia H. Lopez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, was called home by our heavenly father at the age of 70 on March 6, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Lopez; parents, Pedro Hernandez and Anita L. Hernandez; daughter, Jessica Gonzales; granddaughter, Christina M. Ramirez; sister, Janie Gonzales; brothers, John A. Hernandez and Robert Hernandez.

She is survived by her children, Sharon E. Garza, Shirley A. Martinez and husband, Javier, and Samuel A. Gonzales and wife, Jessica; grandchildren, Adela V. West and husband, Tony, Andrew S. Garza III, Benjamin J. Martinez, Alejandro L. Martinez, Graham R. Gonzales and Emmeline E. Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Jessika C. West and Toni R. West.

After 20-plus years as a civil servant with the Internal Revenue Service, Sylvia retired to devote her time and to give her love to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She showered all that she knew with unconditional love, laughter, and acceptance. In her home, you were given everything she had to offer, even if it was just a warm meal. Through her love, countless memories were created that will live on in those who love her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Punit Chadha and his staff at Texas Oncology, and the entire staff of the sixth floor Oncology unit and Chaplain Jonathan at St. David's South Austin.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
