Steve was born on July 31, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri and was the eldest of three siblings. During childhood, his grandmother Lucile Reddick introduced him to a lifelong love of the piano, and his father Bob Reddick taught him to play golf. He also discovered a passion for STEM. One of his childhood projects, a solar-powered house prototype, was even featured at the Kansas City Museum.
Steve was a top student at Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, then earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston. In college, he worked on mainframe computers at the former Houston Lighting & Power, then began a career as a mechanical engineer and procurement manager at the former Amoco Corp. and BP for more than 30 years. During his career, he was a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
He married Norma Elaine Reddick in April 1981. Steve and Elaine had two daughters and were married for more than 25 years until her death in 2009. He married Lesa Brooks Reddick in October 2012. Lesa became Steve’s travel companion and then cared for him faithfully during his battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Steve’s mother Barbara brought him to church throughout childhood. In his mid-twenties, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ while attending Wheaton Bible Church in Wheaton, Illinois and began a decades-long journey of faith. He was a member of Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, Texas for nearly 20 years and was also a member of Hill Country Bible Church in Austin, Texas. Throughout his life he supported several parachurch ministries, including prison and homeless outreach, international student programs, and The Gideons International.

He is survived by wife Lesa Brooks Reddick; siblings Larry Reddick of Cedar Park, Texas; and Sharon (Michael) Ellsberry of Athens, Texas; his children Laura (Christopher) Schmidt of Richardson, Texas; and Mary Reddick of Katy, Texas; Lesa’s children Brooke Austin of Seattle, Washington; and Kevin (Rebekah) Brooks of Cedar Park, Texas; and grandchildren Alex and Lucy Schmidt of Richardson, Texas.
