Sharon was born to the late F.A. (Red) Garrity and Elizabeth (Betty) Garrity in Englewood, New Jersey on January 18th, 1939. Sharon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont and received a Master of Education in School Administration from Sam Houston State University.
In a career that spanned over 30 years and three states, Sharon worked as an elementary educator and school administrator. While she loved teaching in the classroom, she was most proud of the magnet school programs that she oversaw for the Houston Independent School District as an administrator.
Sharon was an amazing gardener and animal lover who enjoyed nurturing both plants and animals. She also enjoyed adventure and traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Ireland, and Russia. But her greatest passion was her wide circle of friends and her growing family.
She is survived by her three sons: Michael Larkin, Kevin Larkin, and James Larkin, and daughters-in-law Laurielyn Fields, Jo Ann Larkin, and Laura Larkin. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Peyton Larkin, Meaghan Larkin, Carmen Larkin, Maren Larkin, and Elsa Larkin.
Memorial services will be held at 4 P.M., February 1st, 2020 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks. To leave online condolence for the family, please visit our website at cookwaldenforestoaks.com.
