Sandra Kay Stiles Crouch peacefully joined her Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 30, 1940 in Austin, Texas to James and Mildred Stiles, she married William Benjamin Crouch, Jr. on November 22, 1959. After a long and courageous battle against multiple health issues, she is survived by her devoted husband, their three beautiful daughters and sons-in-law, and her six grandchildren: Julia Anne Garcia, husband Bobby and daughter Alicia Nichole; Janie Lyn Cosson, husband Kelly, and children Benjamin Gale and Spencer Pearce; and Janet Lee McNulty, husband Mark and children William Paul, Patrick Ryan, and Mary Frances.
She considered her situation and decided that due to the pain she suffered from her more recent maladies, and more importantly because she could no longer participate in those activities that she previously enjoyed, she was ready to seek the comfort of her Lord Jesus Christ. As in all other family matters, her wishes became those of the family before she allowed the conversation to conclude.
Sandra was always active, playing alto saxophone in the U.T. New Horizons band and dancing as a member of the granny dancers until health took these loves away from her. She was a wonderful wife and mother, who loved her husband and children with all of her heart. She was the biggest fan of her six grandchildren and never missed a moment to sing their praises to anyone who would listen. A loyal and compassionate friend to all, she was always willing to offer support in a time of need. She filled every room she entered with her smile and laughter. Her bright presence will be missed by many, and she touched the world in a way that will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Baldwin of Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Crouch to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org or to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
