From the moment Sandra Lynn (Irish) Berry, and her identical twin sister Sharon, arrived on the planet they were an inseparable energy that would fill rooms and melt hearts. It’s almost fitting that Sandra’s exit wasn’t too far behind her twin. Sandra “slipped the surly bonds” of this earth in the early morning of July 13th 2020 after tenaciously fighting many health battles the last couple of years. Sandra was a woman of family, faith and, of course, fun.
She met the man of her dreams working at the Dairy Top in La Marque, Texas. She and Joe Berry got married in June of 1968 and did life together for 52 years. They raised a family, travelled, lived, laughed and loved -- together. They were soul mates and always will be.
Hoping for daughters, Sandra was blessed with two sons. God only challenges those He is really fond of. Scott and Matt born 4 years apart were a big part of her life. She cared for, rooted for and put up with those two boys only to see them turn out to be God-fearing family men. She was very proud of them and doted on her grandchildren; Megan, Luke, Hannah and Emily.
She was also in love with the rest of her family. She loved her mother, Margie, and adored her mother-in-law Betty. She enjoyed taking trips back to the coast to see her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. And of course, always in her heart and mind, her twin’s family; Sharon, Pat, Eric and Lisa. Her Austin family, Jill, Stan and the boys, were a very important part of her joy and life. And she had some amazing friends with whom she would often conspire with to whip up some good times with all manner of hilarity(you know who you are!).
Sandra was a working woman the majority of her life. She worked for various companies in the Austin area as an assistant, executive and businesswomen. She was a key figure in the profitability and success at each of her career spots.
Sandra was also a woman of faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Austin for close to 40 years. She served and helped with all kinds of ministries to kids, adults and seniors. She greatly enjoyed going to Bible studies and hearing the choir sing some of her favorite hymns. Her faith in Christ provides the assurance that her ending here is her beginning THERE. She is with her Savior. In her personal Bible she highlighted this verse, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord will award to me on that day.”(2 Tim.4:7-8)
