She was born on August 28, 1955, in Westport, Connecticut, where she attended Staples High School. Sally attended Duke University, where she studied English. She worked in the book and periodicals publishing.
Sally is survived by her mother, Dian Rice; her sister, Lisa Rice Thai; and her children, Madeleine, Caroline, and Henry Jones. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Rice.
A celebration of life service will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church (301 East 8th Street) on Friday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following. The family asks that those attending wear blue, Sally's favorite color, instead of black, to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, Sally's family asks that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Texas.
