Russell P Tomlinson

Russell Permar Tomlinson, husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away after a lengthy illness on November 29, 2022 in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his wife Merrie C. (Kuhn) Tomlinson, daughter, Candace J. Tomlinson, her husband Michael Meng, and their children Eleanor and Garrett Meng of Wheat Ridge, Colorado daughter Shelley B. Tomlinson and her daughters Hayley and Abrielle Goodwein of Soledad, California, and daughter-in-law Sarah Tomlinson and her daughters, Leah and Kayla Tomlinson. His son, Russell Curtis Tomlinson predeceased him. He is also survived by his sister Geraldine Kelbaugh of Pendel, Pennsylvania, brother Leslie H Tomlinson of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, sister, Caroline Hardy of Bloomfield, Connecticut; as well as in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born on September 1, 1933 in Yardley, Pennsylvania, lived in that area and graduated from Council Rock High School in Newtown Pennsylvania. He worked briefly as a carpenter and house painter then joined the U. S. Air Force in March of 1953 as an Airman. He was later commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant and stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth on October 7, 1956. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on January 7, 1958. He then Attended the University of Texas, graduated with a degree in Business Administration June 3, 1960. Later he received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas on June 4, 1966. He was employed for 20 years as Vice President of Real Estate Financing with Security Pacific National Bank in Los Angeles, California in 1961 which later became a part of Bank of America. He also earned a Master of Arts degree from California State University He retired from the bank in 1980 to go into business for himself. He was self employed as a Real Estate loan broker in southern California. After moving to Austin, he maintained self employment as a Real Estate loan broker and a Real Estate developer from 1989 to 2010 when he fully retired.

He was an avid reader, runner, enjoyed traveling around the U. S. and crossword puzzle devotee. He was active in various Real Estate organizations .

He will be buried at Ft Sam Houston Veterans cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to The Nature Conservancy, the Austin Humane Society, the World Wildlife Fund, The National Parks Conservation Association. Alley Cat Allies, or any charity of your choice.
