Ruby D. Langley, age 82, of Austin, passed away on June 2, 2011. She was born on January 18, 1929 in Waco. She worked for many years as a telephone operator at the Federal Building and at Bergstrom AFB. Ruby was also head cashier at the BAFB Commissary. Ruby was the baby of 19 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her son Don, her parents Miller and Ella Collins, 9 brothers and 8 sisters. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Martha Jones of Round Rock, 6 children and their spouses, Karen (Susie) and Mike Clowdus of Pflugerville, Rev. Gary and Mary Langley of Pflugerville, John and Brenda Langley of Austin, Neil and Janet Langley of Round Rock, Carol and Brad Arnett of Leander and Lynn and Jeff Wilson of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Johnnie Hoff of San Antonio, 16 grand children, 13 great-grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby loved music, dancing, playing bingo, gambling and even served on the board at the Senior Center on North Lamar as well as, the treasurer of the Collins Family Reunion for over thirty (30) years. Ruby was always very proud to let everyone know she was the baby of 19 children and that she had 7 children of her own. She loved her family dearly, they were very important to her and she was always happiest when they were around. Ruby (Mom/Nanny) was the strength and tower of all and we will greatly miss and love her always. Pallbearers will be Darrell Jones, Michael Ray Clowdus, Ryan Langley, Aaron Langley, Brandon Arnett and Eric VonQuintus. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Jones, Justin Langley, Garrett Langley and Dalton Arnett. Ruby’s shining stars are Sherrie Auvenshine, Angel Stevens, Amy VonQuintus, DeAnna Hendrix, Kelsi Wilson, Kayla Wilson and Maci Wilson. Friends and family are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday, the 5th of June from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin. Funeral services will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 6th of June at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin.
