Ruby Irene Condra Bouchard passed away peacefully on September 25, 2012 in Austin, Texas. Irene, a native Austinite, was born on March 13, 1922 to Willie Mae and Leonard Condra. A graduate of Austin High School, Irene worked many years at the Congress Avenue Scarbrough’s Department Store.
Irene was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Harry A. Bouchard, Jr., and their two infant children, Marilyn Kay and Milton Randall, as well as her parents and three siblings, Harold, Mildred, and Bill. She is survived by her two children, Karen Wheeless of Cedar Park and Stephen Bouchard of New Jersey; granddaughter Emily Kulp, her husband Andrew, and their two daughters, Katie and Holly of Baltimore; granddaughter Laura Regan and her husband Michael of Fort Worth; sister Mattie Lynn Clark of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was a devoted Christian and served faithfully as a children’s Sunday School teacher and Women’s Missionary Union member at Windsor Park Baptist Church. She later served as adult Sunday School class president and a Reading Roundtable volunteer at First Baptist Church. Irene’s greatest joys were serving and helping others in the name of Christ and loving her family unconditionally.
Irene’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Heartland Healthcare Center, Seton Northwest Hospital, and Austin Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Saturday, September 29th at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road. Services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 30th at the same location. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park on Hancock Drive.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
