Rose LaDean Cormany Gordon Watson, age 94, passed away into the arms of her Lord on October 31, 2007. She was born on June 25, 1913 in Moody, Texas to Charles Madison Cormany and Rosa Lee May. She grew up as the seventh daughter of three brothers and four sisters in the area of Moody and Eddy, Texas. Soon after graduating from the Bruceville-Eddy High School she married John Davidson J.D. Gordon of Eddy. To this union were born two sons, John Davidson Gordon, Jr. and Charles Michael Mike Gordon. J.D. was an engineer with the L.C.R.A. which required the family to live in Burnet and Marble Falls, Texas returning to Austin in 1953. Rose LaDean was a professional beautician as well as a great mom and grandmother her entire life. She was a very kind, caring and gracious lady who worked very hard to provide for and raise her two sons while their father J.D. was in a sanatorium for seven years with T.B. She always reserved her weekends just for her boys during this time period. Before her retirement, she was the owner of the Fair Lady Beauty Shop off Burnet Road. She was affectionately known as granny to all her grandchildren. After J.D. passed away in 1964 she later married Thomas Tom Harold Watson in 1967. Her retirement with Tom was filled with her favorite pastimes of fishing, reading and traveling. Rose LaDeans inner beauty was as wonderful as her outer beauty. She was truly loved by so many and her always present smile will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands J.D. Gordon and Tom Watson; sisters Vivian Madison Cormany Land, Zilpha May Cormany Donley, and Mary Ione Cormany Edwards; brothers Martin Truman Cormany, Charles Gaston Cormany, and James Edward Cormany; and grandson Charles Robert Bobby Gordon. Rose LaDean is survived by her sons John and wife Grace Joy Gordon of Marble Falls, TX, and Mike and wife Loretta Gordon of Leander, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gail and husband Aubra McKinney, John Davidson Trey Gordon, III, Quay and husband Pat Trotter, Shari and husband Todd Wojtowecz and Martin Gordon; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two nephews; and four nieces with special mention of her cherished namesake Mary Dean Smith of Austin, TX. With much appreciation and gratitude, we wish to acknowledge Jean Crumley of New Hope Manor for the ever-so-special care she always gave to our beloved Rose LaDean during the last 18 months of her life. A graveside service will be held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Lay officiating.
