Robert P. Sanchez Robert P. Sanchez, age 46, lost an intense battle with cancer on June 15, 2008, in Austin, Texas. He was born on July 29, 1961, was baptized at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, attended St. John's Episcopal Primary School and graduated from McAllen High School where he excelled in football. He then enrolled in St. Mary's University in San Antonio and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He worked for the House Seargent's Office in the Capitol Building at Austin, then was employed by the Austin Police Department as a counselor in its Victim Services office, where he served with distinction in its elite unit. He loved to offer his help to people in need in the community of Austin where he also performed as a den and scout leader. Above all he was a loving husband and father. Robert loved the outdoors. He was excellent with a hand gun while at the same time he enjoyed bird watching with his family. He married Karin Wied of Austin in the ancestral house of his paternal grandfather, Trinidad P. Sanchez, called Casa Trinidad at Bustamante, N.L., Mexico on October 24, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Karin W. Sanchez, and his little children, Josef, Christian and Jacob Robert P. Sanchez, his mother-in-law, Verline Wied, brother-in-law, Michael Wied, his parents, R.P. (Bob) and Tula Barrera Sanchez, his sister, Sonia and brothers, Richard P. of Houston and Edward P. (Dahlia) Sanchez of McAllen. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, 606 West 15th Street, Austin, Texas 78701, phone (512) 476-6757, with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. The funeral procession will follow and interment will be held at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive at Bull Creek Road in Austin.
