Robert "Bob" Reinhart

Robert E Reinhart (Bob) was born in St. Paul, MN on January 28, 1929. He passed on to his eternal rest on October 9, in Austin, TX. His parents were Ardys and Harvey Reinhart of Austin, MN, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were his brother-in-laws, Richard Holton (Norma), and William Holton (JoAnn).

He was raised in Austin, MN where he graduated from Austin High School class of 1947. In September 1948 he enlisted in the US Air Force. After basic training at the Sheppard Air Force base in Wichita Falls, TX, he went back to Austin, MN and married his high school sweetheart, Joan Holton on December 12, 1948. As newlyweds they went to Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi. From there he was stationed at Ellington AFB in Houston, TX. In August of 1952 he was discharged from the Air Force where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Radar Repair Technician.

Later in August he went to work at the IBM branch office in Houston, and was trained to service IBM data processing machines. In March of 1962 he was promoted to Field Manager in the Austin, TX branch office. In December of 1977 he transferred to the Austin IBM plant site as a programmer in the information services area. He retired from IBM in 1987 as an Advisory Telecommunications Analyst Network Systems Software. In his retirement years, Bob and Joan enjoyed many years of traveling in their RV. He also enjoyed playing 42 at Thursday fellowship and Double 5’s at Crestview United Methodist Church. He and Joan have been very active members of Crestview United Methodist Church. They especially enjoyed attending band programs, soccer, baseball, softball, football, and basketball games of children and grandchildren. Bob has been a volunteer at Crestview United Methodist Church, North Central Caregivers, Reading is Fundamental, St. David’s Hospital, and Seton Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of over 72 years, Joan; son Steven and (Kathy) of Austin; grandchildren Eric Reinhart of Austin, Michelle and (Patrick Rehm); two great-grandsons, Nolan and Eli Rehm of Leander; daughter Sandra (Andy Toft) of Rock Dell, Mn., grandchildren Patrick Toft (Haley Hassebrock) of Hayfield, MN, Anna (Craig Sink) of Janesville, MN and Samantha Toft of Rock Dell, MN.

The family requests no flowers or plants. A funeral service and celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Violet Crown City Church, 1300 Morrow, Austin, Texas at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 20th, with a viewing preceding the service. Memorials should be directed to Violet Crown City Church, 1300 Morrow, Austin, TX 78757 and Brookdale Hospice, 3636 Executive Center Drive, Suite 210, Austin, TX 78731.
