Bob served as an Airman 2nd Class in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1952 and achieved distinction as a Sharpshooter, even though he had no prior experience with firearms. After serving in the Air Force, Bob was employed as a tile setter at the Farro Tile Shop located on West 2nd Street in Austin, TX.
Bob had an avid interest in sports. There was no question about football he could not answer. He loved animals, especially his cats. Any stray who needed a meal and a home could find one with Bob.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents: his sister, Virginia Lucille Lewis; and two infant siblings. He is survived by his brother, Jimmy Arthur Meserole of Lago Vista; sisters, Helen Marie Helm of Elgin, Josephine Ann Serna of Battle Mountain, NV and Mary Theresa Gray and her husband Charles of Austin; as well and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Mt. Calvery Cemetery.
Those wishing to remember Bob may make a donation to the Austin Humane Society.
